I consider myself relatively new to the wedding world. Not to say I don’t have the experience- I have spent the past three years studying and mentoring under a popular wedding photographer, and have second shot as well as associated for them for the past two years. But on my own? That is a whole new adventure!
One of the first things I did when I decided I was ready launch my myself into weddings, was start reaching out to local vendors. This led me to Renegade Shoots, which is owned and ran by Mathea, who is a HAMU artist who also owns Hair by Mathea. I had seen several stylized shoots put on by her and thought it would be an amazing opportunity to fine tune my bridal portraits, add to my portfolio, and meet other vendors. Mathea has been one of the kindest vendors I have met so far, and I am constantly in awe at her ideas and drive.
The theme was Old Money, and was being held at a brand new micro venue in Snohomish Wa called Space 802. This building is a staple part of the historic First Street and was originally a gas station- the first gas station in the state of Washington. The building is only 420 sq ft, but boasts big, beautiful windows and has been updated with a vintage vibe. When I first saw the venue I was so excited, it was so different then anywhere I had shot before and I couldn’t help but dream up how I was going to use it. There were several other vendors that supplied florals, cake, dress & suit, invitations, mobile bartending, table design, and of course the models. If you are interested in these amazing vendors, I have included their Insta handles below under the photos!
Stylized shoots are generally set up with stations. Within those stations you can move around the “props” to fit your vision. At this one we had an outdoor space with a fully decorated table and bar, indoors was a table set up with flowers, invites, and jewelry. Mathea had an area where she was putting makeup on the model, and there was also a set up with balloons and florals. There was only one other photographer there, and we took turns posing the models and photographing them, and capturing detail shots. During this I got to chat with the other vendors, and walked away from the experience glad that I had done it.
These photos are probably some of my favorite bridal portraits, and I am immensely proud of them. It was the first time I was able to look at bridal photos I had done and see all of my hard work pay off. Meeting all these amazing vendors have led to other opportunities, and I can’t wait to continue on my adventure in the wedding world.
I am always looking for the opportunity to do stylized bridal sessions, so if you are a vendor and want to collaborate let's chat!
Thanks for stooping by,
Kymber
