"I feel womanly and exhilarated, and dare I say a little sexy"
That is what I would call a rave review! Those words come from my friend and associate, Lillian, who is a fantastic and seasoned photographer and is new to the area. Getting to know Lillian has been a wonderful experience for a couple of different reasons-
First off, she is far more experienced than I am but since she is new to the area she is on a similar level as I am in terms of getting her name out there locally and really having to push for marketing & networking. Why is this good thing? Because we are able to bounce ideas off each other for content creation and we will be joining together to attend stylized shoots and wedding shows(I love having a buddy at events!) Secondly, she is someone who believes in sharing knowledge and is always wiling to help out anyone willing to learn. And finally, she is easily the most positive and kind spirit I have ever met, and when you are around her it's hard not to join in on her bubbly personality.
So far getting to know Lillian has included headshot swaps & playing in the snow, meeting up for 2x caffeine cups of coffee & business talk, and most recently planning & shooting a bridal boudoir session. Why Bridal Boudoir you ask? Keep reading and I will tell you why!
In my journey as a photographer I have shot a little bit of everything. Aside from weddings and couples, one of my favorite type of session has been boudoir. When I shifted into weddings full-time, boudoir was one of those things that I thought I would need to put aside. But when I was chatting with Lillian, she pointed out how fun it would be to offer a Bridal Boudoir add-on to my wedding/elopement packages and that is where the idea began.
Right around this time, I had been contacted by a new local studio that is located downtown in my hometown, Sedro Woolley, called The Prop House.
This studio is ran by two sisters who have a vision of offering a small studio space that doubles as a venue. It has an open area with hardwood floor & minimal but elegant furniture, a full kitchen & a bathroom. During my conversation with Lillian and her agreeing to be my model, I booked the space. The booking process was simple and straightforward, and communication before and after was great.
My session with Lillian was playful and we giggled for probably 90% of the time. But she proved to be a confident model who was very in tune with her body and you will see that confidence in the photos below. My goal with boudoir has always to make my clients feel comfortable, empowered, and beautiful. All body types are beautiful & photogenic, and I would encourage anyone who has ever felt that they wouldn't be suited for boudoir to reconsider!
If you are interested in Boudoir just because, or if you love the idea of Bridal Boudoir and want to surprise your soon to be partner with a book of sexy photos the day of your wedding, we should chat! Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Cheers,
Kymber
